Re: Now listening to . . .
I like that Cinderella song, the lead singer looks a little bit like Steven Tyler, east coast bad boy.
I was listening to this song today, now it is stuck in my head.

Re: Now listening to . . .
Yeah, that's a bit annoying. Images can be uploaded into the forum data bank, but not videos. I've been waiting for this to appear on YouTube, it's quite catchy:Sary wrote:Many of the songs that were posted on this thread are gone. That’s too bad because I like to go back and listen to the good ones.
I came across this the other night, from the late 1960s:
"Those Were the Days" is a song credited to Gene Raskin, who put a new English lyric to the Russian romance song "Dorogoi dlinnoyu" ("Дорогой длинною", literally "By the long road"), composed by Boris Fomin (1900–1948) with words by the poet Konstantin Podrevsky. It deals with reminiscence upon youth and romantic idealism. Mary Hopkin's 1968 debut single of "Those Were the Days" (producer, Paul McCartney) became a number one hit on the UK Singles Chart. The song also reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100, behind "Hey Jude" by McCartney's band The Beatles.

That song. . . Those were the Days, reminds me of my mother. She always loved that song.
It is a good one, I will have to play it for her.
I heard this Ozzy song this morning, one of his more popular hits

Re: Now listening to . . .
^ That was a good period for Ozzy, but in 1982 his young guitarist was killed in an accident:

That is a sad story, what senseless and tragic way for Randy Rhoads to die. He was so young and talented.
I am trying to imagine how exactly a plane would buzz a bus. It sounds beyond stupid.

Re: Now listening to . . .
I was a little surprised when I heard this old John Denver song being performed at a German harvest festival. The crowd went bananas and everyone was singing along.
I learned that even though the song originated in American it is loved internationally, and is especially popular in Germany, even today.
Like Those were the Days, it is a song that pulls our heart strings, full of romantic idealism and nostalgia.

Re: Now listening to . . .
^ I've heard that song more than once and it's obviously a good one. I quite like country & western in general and some say rock music is based upon that as much as it's based on blues. I'll bet this Cinderella song was inspired by "Take Me Home":
Going back to Ozzy's band, Randy's replacement was Jake E. Lee (of Welsh and Japanese ancestry) - the one here with the red waistcoat and white boots:

Re: Now listening to . . .
The blonde hair was definitely not one of Ozzy’s better looks. He does sound great though despite all of the drugs.
I was listening to some other songs from that Dutch band Blackbriar you posted. I love the artsy videos that go along with the beautiful music. It really sets a mood.

I almost posted that Blackbriar song above but settled on the other one. A similar kind of thing:

Re: Now listening to . . .
^ again an error message saying that the video is not available in the USA. I watched it on YouTube. Tarja has an ethereal sounding voice, so powerful but at the same time feminine and delicate, very nice.
Today is the anniversary of my fathers death.
I was only 18 years old when he died and still, I miss him terribly.
The Moody Blues was his favorite band and I grew up listening to their music.
I occasionally I will play a song or two but I usually get all emotional and choked up.
This song reminds me of him..

^ Both good songs. Wolfmother have a 'doom rock' feel to them. A song I was listening to a couple of weeks ago:
A little experiment now. Does listening to this make you laugh?
