Northern & Southern English Accents
This is fairly accurate:

Re: Northern & Southern English Accents
My accent is a medium strength northern (Lancashire) accent, very similar to how the dark haired woman in the video sounds. But exactly how I speak depends who I'm talking to.Aëlwenn wrote:What's your own accent ?

Northern English accents are quite different to Cockney (traditional London accent). In fact, I find Cockney rather annoying. It always reminds me of the Artful Dodger from Oliver Twist.

Re: Northern & Southern English Accents
A British accent sounds fancy to me ,maybe aristocratic is a better word. A little devilish /dangerous too, like James Bond.
When a British accent is very thick or when it is spoken quickly ,it can be difficult for me to understand, for instance in some of the monty Python skits,I have to back it up to catch the joke.....
If I listen to it for too long I start talking like that too!
I am sure that If I heard it every day,I would adapt a fake British accent in no time,it grows on you.
There are many regional accents in the USA,I suppose I have a slight NYC accent.

Re: Northern & Southern English Accents
I've never had trouble understanding the American accents I've heard, but I have to concentrate to understand a strong Scottish accent or even a strong Liverpool (Scouse) one.
Listen to this north-east English accent (Geordie). What other accents does it most remind you of?

I'm not from Preston but my original accent is very similar to this one:
