Edward Burne - Jones - The Garden of the Hesperides
Proserpine ( Persephone) - Dante Gabriel Rossetti
Two beautiful feminine paintings, both done by English artists from around the same time period. To me Rossetti’s style looks very similar to Waterhouse.
I’ve been reading some books on Greek mythology and am finding it so fascinating.
It is no wonder that the ancient stories of gods and goddesses, heroes and monsters have inspired artists for centuries.

At junior school (ages 7-10) we were given a catalogue every so often of Ladybird Books for children we could order. They were mostly academic but some covered myths and legends. I got a few of them, including Robin Hood and the Silver Arrow and this one which includes the stories of Theseus and the Minotaur and Perseus and Medusa:Sary wrote:I’ve been reading some books on Greek mythology and am finding it so fascinating.

^ Very pretty, Black-eyed-Susan’s are one of my favorite flowers. They are easy to grow, I planted one years ago, and now I have them spread all over the yard.

That first painting of Joan of Arc is my favorite depiction of her's. She looks beautiful yet innocent, and also tomboyish. St. Cecilia is very pretty.
