Charloteville's Chaos.

Post OsricPearl on Mon 14 Aug - 5:11

I'm surprised no one has started a thread about that here. I figured there would be more information. Rumors I've heard was that the driver who sped into the crowd was jewish and that the cops helped anitifa.

The only thing I know about Charlottes, it’s a disgusting nazi lovers killed an innocent 32 yo woman because she was against fascists ideology.
I’m against mass immigration but not for discrimination and hateful speech.

I missed most of the news at the weekend and I've only just read up on this.

The thing that seems to have triggered the demonstration was the removal in a Virginia park of a statue of General Lee who led the pro-slavery confederates in the American Civil War. That was defintely wrong in my opinon - trying to erase history - and it's no wonder some white Americans saw that as an attack on their identity.

But the march/demonstration itself - was that a good idea? Those things always attract immature or disturbed individuals intent on violence and opposition demonstrators who provoke them. So the alt Right, or parts of it, have now worsened their reputation in the eyes of the mainstream (and it doesn't take much to do that given the politically correct climate of today).

They need a way of protesting which is far less likely to go wrong and undermine their cause(s).

it seems that the man's car was attacked right before he hit the people. Antifa were attacking his car with bats and sticks. He was probably trying to escape. This was after the protests. Manslaughter at most.

I think that the media jumped the gun, again, and tried to pin the violence on the right when it was antifa and BLM who attacked.

I can not understand why people feel the need to go out and protest. It seems to me that these gatherings are just an excuse to incite violence. Free speech does not give people the right to vandalize, destroy and kill innocent people. It seems by attending you are putting your self in danger
From what I understand the people protesting, the removal of General Lee's statue .had a legal permit. Why were the counter protesters allowed to attend? You would think that who ever is in charge of controlling these gatherings would have the fore sight to keep the peace and not let opposing groups disrupt.
Personally I think that it is a big mistake to take down historical monuments. There will always be something that offends someone.
Good or bad, these historical monuments serve as a reminder to the past,by pretending or forgetting that these events did not happen will surely lead to history repeating its self.
States should let the people vote,if more are in favor of removing the "offensive" statues they should be placed in a museum.

The southern states are still sore about losing the war of southern aggression, removing their monuments will only upset . It is history,we should learn from it and leave it to rest

Good point about the police allowing a counter-demonstration which was obviously going to increase the chance of trouble. And also about letting people vote on the statue removal issue. It's just the kind of thing that should be solved by a state referendum and I understand that's what they do in California. Direct democracy.

Thinking about better ways of protesting about something than marching in the streets, what if the alt Right protestors had called for a one-day strike, asking all Virginians (except emergency workers) not to go to work to make their point?

This article relates to what I said above:

Unless you’re an e-celeb with a huge ego, you don’t need public events, you don’t need to make the news, and you don’t need to gather massive groups of men you don’t know. Build your movement slow and steady instead of attracting whack jobs who praise Hitler and run people over with cars. Create flash events where leftist foot soldiers don’t receive advance notice on their iPhones of your whereabouts, and focus on winning hearts and minds with poignant, effective, or humorous engagements that are publicized through images or video and allow you to grow slowly as you gain needed experience.

Re: Charloteville's Chaos.

Post de Burgh on Fri 18 Aug - 2:35

All these occurrences are quite weird that is happening nowadays. From November 2016 onwards, there has been a common increase in these occurrences. That seems to be provoked by the radical organizations that creates unnecessary violence that is essentially domestic terrorism protected by political correctness. All these modernized, terrorist groups such as Black Lives Matter, Antifa, etc. disgust me. There is probably a globalized, ulterior motive going on behind closed doors that they don't want us to see. Probably funded by rich lobbyists, benefiting organizations or some political entity that likes seeing people killing each other while they profit off this mindless carnage. No rational country in the right mind would allow this despicable, cowardly occurrences to transpire with such irrational levels of political correctness taking place in the western world.

The sad part is when you try to talk sense into people to not get involved in the mess of political correctness, the more they foolishly embrace such self-destructive ideologies. I guess the proportion of wiser individuals among us are dwindling into a silent minority... :/

I like your idea of a one day strike, hit them where it hurts,in the pocket book or have it on a Saturday, when working people can attend. It is so dangerous, the young people especially so,i wonder if they even believe what they are protesting, young and dumb.

Now here we go again with another "planned protest" this time Boston.http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/after-charlottesville-thousands-expected-attend-boston-counter-protests-right-wing-n793756

As for the statues, they are works of art, stirring the emotions good or bad. It is desecration,to destroy the history. It was very disturbing seeing pictures of those people pull down the statues. the states need to vote and decide what to do.
I think put those dead rebel confederate soldiers in a museum right beside the Robert Mapplethorpe ,that will teach them LOL 1
