Interesting to see that the coal reserves will last for another century or so, it’s too bad that coal burns so dirty. We use to have a coal stove when I was growing up. I remember the sooty bin down in the basement and having to shake the embers to keep the coals burning.
That little stove sure threw off a lot of heat!
Now, I don’t think that it is even legal to use a coal stove for heating purposes.
Like kerosene, it has gone out favor and replaced with cleaner, more efficient types of energy.
I imagine that in the near future, we will begin to mine fuel and various resources from the planets that are in our solar system.
If that is not possible, perhaps solar and wind will be enough to sustain the population?

I grew up with a coal fire. Although electric and gas fires are a lot more convenient they don't give the same feeling of coziness and wonder which is almost spiritual. Real fires are are useful for burning bits of rubbish as well.
There is currently controversy about a proposed new coal mine in Cumbria, northern England. I think they should definitely go ahead with it.

It is just awful.
Government doesn’t seem to care at all about killing good paying local jobs, which would not only boost the economy, but would also help to bring energy independence.
Coal is used to generate “green” electricity. . . it’s so stupid.
We are seeing the same thing going on here in the USA with lying Biden ruling by executive order, shutting down fracking and the keystone pipeline.
These days the most important thing to the rulers of the western world seems to be the inevitable coming climate apocalypse.
That and COVID-19.
