Re: Now listening to . . .
^I like this song by The AVett Brothers very much, it sounds fresh and original.
The title of the song, February Seven ....well that is a very significant day for me.
It is so nice that you posted it
I like this song by Train, I don’t always listen to the oldies.

Re: Now listening to . . .
A couple of Meat Loaf songs with a country feel to them:
Between the velvet lies, there's a truth that's hard as steel
The vision never dies, life's a never ending wheel - R.J.Dio
Re: Now listening to . . .
The first song has a strong country feel to it, the second song sounds signature Meatloaf.
Michael Lee Aday has a very distinctive voice and style.
He does a nice job changing it up a bit.
I like to listen to Southern Rock more so than straight up country music.
Two songs from way back.
I love the sound of the steel guitar on Fire on the Mountain.

Re: Now listening to . . .
^ I like both those songs. Country & Western itself was a major influence on rock music. There's a band called The Outlaws I need to explore.

^ I like the SYML song (the Joy Division is okay, but I wouldn't buy it).
'"Here with Me" was used as the theme song for the 1999–2002 American television sci-fi drama Roswell' (Wikipedia):
And this song was on the soundtrack album for the Buffy The Vampire Slayer TV series:
I've not heard anything about the artist, Kim Ferron, since.

Continuing the operatic theme:

Re: Now listening to . . .
I have been on a Beatles kick lately.
A Day in a Life is not an opera, but maybe a symphony?
I am not quite sure of the difference.

Re: Now listening to . . .
Some pop and rock songs are called symphonic when there are a variety of instruments used but I don't know if that meets the technical definition. I like the Beatles' psychedellic period. I was interested in LSD in my teens but I never tried it. I didn't know the right (or wrong) kind of people. Probably just as well.
This Black Sabbath video reminds me of those Beatles ones - the band members messing around with little relevance to the song:

I never tried LSD either. I use to hang out with an older crowd, when I was a teenager. Some of the guys would do heavy drugs.
I have always enjoyed a little reefer now and then but that’s it.
What scared me from experimenting with hard drugs was seeing my friend Corey, who took too much acid or had a bad batch... regardless, he was never the same after that summer.
He use to be one of the sweetest of the boys and would play guitar and we would sing.
Then he turned into a zombie dumb dumb
I heard this old song on the radio the other day, and it brought back memories, it is a good one!

Re: Now listening to . . .
I am so glad that we can now watch the old goofy videos of the Beatles and Black Sabbath on YouTube. Before it was only audio and was harder to appreciate the talent, without seeing them in concert.
They were all so cute when they were young!
Now, watching Ozzy performe makes me smile. It is different, but still the same.
He has still got it!

Re: Now listening to . . .
We continue to have a very wet summer , with plenty of rain and hot muggy weather.
There have been a few thunderstorms, but nothing too bad so far this summer.
Staying with the storm theme, one of my favorites songs by The Doors. It is such a shame that Jim Morrison died so young.
