These are your results on the Artistic Preferences Scales. The APS measures three scales. Scores for each scale are presented in terms of percentiles. Scores range from 0 to 99, and represent what percent of other people you score higher than.

Scale 1: Intolerance of Abstraction
Example Item

Individuals who score high on this factor tend to pick the image on the right over the image on the left.
Factor 1, consists of pairs of items the contrast abstract paintings with paintings of potentially real scenes. Your score was 0.

Scale 2: Preference for Photorealism
Example Item

Individuals who score high on this factor tend to pick the image on the right over the image on the left.
Factor 2 measures a preference for how much you prefer your artwork to look like photographs. Low scorers tend to prefer painterly works, where the brush strokes are visible. Your score was 44.

Scale 3: Masculinity-Femininity
Example Item

Individuals who score high on this factor tend to pick the image on the right over the image on the left.
Factor 3, consists of pairs of items the contrast warm and emotional pictures with emotionally bleak pictures and stark landscapes. This scale is unlike scale 1 and scale 2 in that it is mostly about the artwork's content than its form. The factor is labelled masculinity-femininity because it is the only scale that shows large gender differences (the average man scores 35 and the average woman scores 65). Your score was 2.

Art Style Preferences Test Empty seems legit

Post OsricPearl Fri 9 Feb - 22:01

Your score for Linear vs. Painterly was -10. This indicates you have a strong preference for linear works over painterly ones. In linear works, the artists depicts clear shapes bounded by lines and attempts to achieve photorealism. This contrasts with a painterly style where the brush strokes will be visible.
Your score for Realistic vs. Abstract was -6. This indicates you have a moderate preference for realistic works over abstract ones.
Your score for Masculine vs. Feminine was 7. This indicates that you have a moderate preference for works of art that depict subjects stereotypically of interest to females (e.g. women in dresses, etc.) as opposed to subjects stereotypically associated with males (e.g. fighting, machines, ships, architecture, etc.).

Here is my result:

Your score for Linear vs. Painterly was 12. This indicates you have a strong preference for painterly works. In painterly works the brush stokes will be visible, this contrasts with linear works where shapes are bounded by lines and the goal is a photo-realistic depiction.
Your score for Realistic vs. Abstract was 4. This indicates you have a moderate preference for abstract works.
Your score for Masculine vs. Feminine was 3. This indicates that you have a slight preference for works of art that depict subjects stereotypically of interest to females (e.g. women in dresses, etc.) as opposed to subjects stereotypically associated with males (e.g. fighting, machines, ships, architecture, etc.).

'The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piercing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age. I’m surprised that I never took this quiz before.
I like some contemporary art, so long as it is has a pleasing color pallet and is not too perverted or grotesque.

Almost exactly the same as my results. I should think there is a correlation between moral conservatism and a preference for realistic & linear drawings/paintings. It would make a good psychological study.
