Yeah, I've noticed Americans are not good at this game, but Europeans are not much better. The trick is to look for a few faces that have a distintive look characteristic of certain countries - what we could call archetypes. Most natives of a European country can pass well in nearby countries but there are always some who have a concentration of features which are more common in their country than others.

The bigger the group, the easier it is and I can tell apart large groups of English and Irish people by looking for those certain faces.

When I see blonde hair,I think Northern Europe and dark hair ,I think Mediterranean. I am trying to get better at this game,it is very interesting to me. It is definantly an acquired skill

It would certainly  help to be able to measure the face with calipers,look for markers.

I can tell you this first hand ,polish people have very large craniums ....kapusta gwova,cabbage head LOL 1

I guessed wrong,didn't I.
