Another way to see cities Empty Another way to see cities

Post Aëlwenn Mon 23 Oct - 17:40

It's a project I've had for a long time, that of making discover several cities in aspects that many people do not know, far from tourist clichés.

I chose the cities according to those that I could see, discover and those I would like to see.

It is an initiative that can be enriched by the contributions of other stakeholders wanting to discover other aspects of cities.

The idea came to me after watching a movie on television. As you know, Hollywood conveys a very large number of stereotypes and ideas received from another time, incredibly stupid for 2016 (when I started this project).

When I see how Paris is presented in American films ...
Every time the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre, the mimes (I've never seen a single one over the 4 years I lived in Paris), the accordion and Edith Piaf (we talk about the country that provided Daft Punk and David Guetta?), And the characters who live only in the historic center of Paris (ultra tourist), which should represent only a tiny part of the city.

In short, the idea came to me from there (and Paris must be the most fantasized city and the most stereotyped in the minds of people).

I collected photographs from my personal collection or found on specific sites.

Here are the cities I planned to do:

France:

-Paris
-Lyon
-Grenoble
-Lille
-Bordeaux
-Strasbourg
-Toulouse
-Le Havre
-Nantes

United Kingdom:

-Oxford ( my favourite)
-Cambridge
-Leeds
-Manchester
-Edimburgh
-Cardiff
-Bath
-Liverpool
-Birmingham

Germany:

-Munich
-Berlin
-Cologne
-Frankfurt
-Hamburg
-Stuttgart

Switzerland:

-Geneve
-Zurich
-Bern

Austria:
-Vienna

Denmark:
-Copenhagen

Finland:
-Helsinki

Hungary:
-Budapest

Italy:

-Naples
-Milan
-Florence
-Turin

Spain:
-Barcelona
-Valencia
-Madrid

Netherland:

-Amsterdam
-Rotterdam

Belgium:
-Brussels
-Lièges
-Bruges

It's a very long, difficult work.
Sorry, I would like to be able to do all the cities of Europe but it's impossible.

If I'm not put London is because unlike Paris, the city is always represented in a positive way, modern and apart from the rain, few cliché on it.
