Another scene from Ripping Yarns by Terry Jones and Michael Palin:

My favorite Python, Terry Jones, died last month. I didn't know that until recently. Although I'm not one to get choked up by celebrity deaths, this one does hit a little harder than most. RIP Terry Jones.

Terry Jones was my favourite Python and the next most surreal after the cartoonist Terry Gilliam.

It would be difficult to pick a favorite Python, but John Cleese is mighty funny!

That ^ was one of the first Python sketches I became familiar with from the audio recordings I bought as a kid. Now some proto-Python:

"At Last the 1948 Show is a satirical television show made by David Frost's company, Paradine Productions (although it was not credited on the programmes), in association with Rediffusion London. Transmitted on Britain's ITV network in 1967, it brought Cambridge Footlights humour to a broader audience. The show starred Tim Brooke-Taylor, Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Marty Feldman and Aimi MacDonald. Cleese and Brooke-Taylor were also the programme editors. The director was Ian Fordyce. Chapman and Cleese would later be among the founders of the Monty Python comedy troupe, and several of the sketches first performed in At Last the 1948 Show would later be performed by Monty Python in various formats." A lot of the best MP sketches that were on YouTube have disappeared now, but I did find these two:

Martin Luther in the style of Robert De Niro Very Happy   There are still lots of Python videos at DailyMotion.com and you can post them using the gold/blue icon next to the YouTube one (DM tends to be slow though).

https://www.standard.co.uk/news/world/fox-news-monty-python-chaz-quote-john-cleese-response-a4470001.html  Quoting:

John Cleese has delighted in an embarrassing blunder by Fox News after one of its anchor’s mistook a Monty Python quote for a serious piece of evidence.

The broadcaster . . . was covering demonstrations in Seattle when host Martha MacCallum read from a Reddit post. She cited the excerpt as evidence of infighting in the autonomous zone set up by protesters in the city, which they have named CHAZ (the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone). Sharing a screenshot of the post titled “I didn’t vote for Raz” – in apparent reference to rapper Raz Simone, the alleged unofficial leader of CHAZ – Ms MacCullum read out: “I thought we had an autonomous collective.” “An anarcho-syndicalist commune at the least,” she continued, “We should take it in turns to act as a sort of executive officer for the week.”

In fact, the message is lifted, almost word-for-word, from a scene in the 1975 comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail. In the clip, King Arthur approaches two peasants – played by Terry Jones and Michael Palin – and declares himself their leader. But one of the peasants, Dennis, informs the king that he and his cohorts have set up their own form of government, prompting a debate over who’s really in charge. "We're an anarcho-syndicalist commune," says the character played by Palin. "We take it in turns to act as a sort of executive officer for the week.”

The Reddit post even referenced someone who "threw a sword" — which belongs to the legend of King Arthur, although this was not picked up by Fox News. It was, however, picked up by social media users, including Cleese, who starred in the 1970s film. He tweeted: “BREAKING: No one @FoxNews has ever seen @montypython & The Holy Grail. #runit #goodjournalism #factchecking.” He later shared a photoshopped picture of himself in regal dress, he wrote: “After much in-house fighting amongst members of #CHAZ they have unanimously elected a strong and capable new leader. Please report @FoxNews. And it should be noted he's quite capable of walking down ramps and drinking water properly.”

You are right, there are a lot of excellent Monty Python videos on DM that I never saw before. This one with Eric Idle is a good one.
So funny, I have had the same 83 dollars sitting in my wallet for months now. All my real money has gone invisible . . . digital!

Eric Idle wrote some very catchy and amusing songs with Monty Python. Money is one of my favourites. I assumed he had written this one but it's by Neil Innes with the lyrics by Chapman and Cleese:

The Rutles were a rock band that performed visual and aural pastiches and parodies of the Beatles. This originally fictional band, created by Eric Idle and Neil Innes for a sketch in Idle's mid-1970s BBC television comedy series Rutland Weekend Television, later toured and recorded, releasing two albums that included two UK chart hits. I stumbled upon this skit because I was reading about Fair Isle knitting on Wikipedia and the foot note said also see: Gumby.

I guess this character always wears a fair isle sweater vest . . . very stylish indeed!
