Finland's Prime Minister Says That His Government Cannot Continue...

Post Gaut on Mon 12 Jun - 20:27

... now that his coalition partner, the "True Finns Party", elected a new leader, Jussi Halla-aho. Halla-aho was convicted for hate speech and for breaking Finland's religious faith laws in 2012 when he said that "Islam is a religion that validates pedophilia".

Finland's PM Juha Sipilä (C) twittered that his government cannot go on with a person like Halla-aho as the chairman of the True Finns.

It has been reported in several Nordic media outlets that the current government of Finland is now likely to fall.

Update: Finnish PM now saying the government can go on. What happened? All the ministers from True Finns and 20 out of the 37 True Finns MPs have split from their party to form a separate group which they call "New Alternative". According to press, the group is likely to become a party down the line, as the name also suggests.

It will be interesting to see where most of the voters go, to the new group, or to the True Finns. Any clues? Suggestions? I think that the voters would do best staying with the True Finns.

So this New Option party wants to distance itself from Halla-aho and be more moderate / less nationalistic than the True Finns?

Finland currently has immigration from the 3rd world and Halla-aho is opposed to it so the answer is YES.

Nationalism is the normal, natural, human and thus the "moderate" stance though.
