I've rearranged these 23andMe maps and data into a rough order from most to least. Look at the percentage ancestry numbers on the bars as well as the maps. It's hard to be exact because it doesn't take population density into account.

It appears to bust the myth that Germany is the biggest source of ancestry. If we give British a half share of the top British & Irish number and divide it by the top German & French number, we get:

0.275 / 0.16 = 1.7 times more British than German, and that's not even including the French.

Nice map! I think that you should have added Alaska and Hawaii. Not only are they states, but they also have some unique ancestral compositions. Especially Hawaii, which is in the only state in the union with a culturally visible Portuguese population.

(Massachusetts comes second).

The Italian/Jewish in New York is a little overstated because of the city of New York. Outside of New York, most Upstaters I've met have actually been Anglo/Germanic.

I didn't draw the individual maps, so Alaska and Hawaii must have ben left out by 23andMe for some reason.

I'd have guessed Spanish and Italian to be higher.
