Posting here because I'm scared of trolls.

Keeper of the Stone:
Like a ship caught in a storm, Soliandrus Lisbrange is tossed between the will of Kings and desperate women. How will he gain his freedom while he navigates blind, powerless, and alone?

Well done OP, and good luck with it. It looks interesting and I'll read more later. It's my kind of thing.

I wrote a film script, a supernatural thriller, years ago but it's hard to get attention for scripts when you have no connections in the film industry. So, next, I'm going to do a novel myself, a medieval supernatural tale. I've had the storyline for ages but I've been distracted lately with another project.

Very cool OP, I read the first two chapters and am interested in what will happen next. Your children must really appreciate your gift for story telling.
Thanks for sharing!

Oh! Some advise on writing. It's hard. I recommend researching everything you can before you start, as well as making a calendar, and a rough outline of your plot. An amateur story like mine took months of near obsessive writing to complete the drafting and planning stages. The review stage took two months, and I know that I still have a lot of mistakes (not on purpose, naturally).

I didn't self-publish on Amazon because I don't think that my writing is high enough quality for that yet. -_-'

If you want to publish traditionally, you need to go through agents. The problem with agents is that you have to research them and write each individual a personalized letter. Which wouldn't be so bad, except that they are mostly interested in things that sell, and there is the current political climate to consider. Head-Bang

I don't think my story is PC enough for anyone right now. The protagonist is a white male (a blond at that lol) and it's set in Europe. It doesn't have any obvious LGBT characters, and the female characters are feminine. I don't know. I just don't feel like doing the jig or twisting my plot around just so someone can maybe pick up my story at some point and have it not sell at all anyway. LOL 1

But everything is up to you. I like David Stewart. He's a self-published writer who does youtube vids and he has a series on the writing process. It helped me out a lot.

You have to write from the heart if you are doing it at all for yourself. I wouldn't dream of giving a story a politically correct spin for commercial reasons. But do readers and/or publishers of fantasy care about that? I never thought of it.

I'll read more of your book this weekened. But I don't like reading a lot of text from a computer screen and I need some paper so I can print things out and read them in comfort.

Yes, it is. Mostly the publishers have been converged. It's gotten so bad that they even have politically correct readers who comb through the manuscripts to make sure that none of their feelings are hurt. It's pretty toxic.

I am sure that you could easily omit the naughty parts to make the story age appropriate

Like the part about the princess taking off her nightgown.... Oh la la Embarassed

I have not read much more than chapter 3.

You and NK have a knack for writing fantasy stories , I see the similarity.

The character (Sol) is very forceful. I reigned the story in despite him. I know it sounds...off.
Oh? Where do you have your work, NK?

Sary must have been referring to this: https://castle-europa.forumotion.com/t348-continue-the-story

The first script I wrote years ago was an elf story about a woman who joins a group of environmental protestors and discovers that elves are involved behind the scenes, trying to save their ancient woodland from destruction. I got some pretty good feedback about it.

I have a digital copy of the film script I wrote but I haven't put it on any website. I did a few comedy sketches as well in the Monty Python style, but even more surreal.

Back to OP's book, the part where Einrand hides in the Princess's room and the guard comes in instantly reminded me of this scene from Robin of Sherwood (a classic British TV series):

What I've read so far does make me want to read more and I will do so gradually Smile 1
