Lecturers told to attend 'white privilege' seminars

University lecturers are being asked to attend workshops to help them understand how their ‘whiteness’ makes them unwittingly racist. Classes at UK universities are telling lecturers to acknowledge their ‘white privilege’ and examine the idea that white people enjoy advantages in life simply because of the colour of their skin. Posters for the seminars say that black staff and students are discriminated against regularly.

A session at Bristol University, hosted by the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Staff Advisory Group, said it would ask lecturers to ‘examine and acknowledge the destructive role of whiteness’.

Flyers for the event, called Walking On The ‘White’ Side Of The Street, said: ‘We will look at it as a day-to-day reality of white privilege that causes daily “aggressions” towards people of colour. We discuss why white people accrue advantages and benefits simply due to the colour of their skin and how whiteness as a discriminatory force is as prevalent today as it was 400 years ago.’ . . .

It comes as Britain’s first black university vice-chancellor backed students who demanded the removal of a Cecil Rhodes statue at Oxford University. Baroness Amos, head of Soas, University of London, said students were within their rights to ‘raise questions about the role some people have had in our history’. The Rhodes Must Fall campaign lobbied university officials to dismantle a statue of the Victorian imperialist at Oriel College. Baroness Amos said: ‘I don’t think there’s anything that says because you put a monument up to somebody many hundreds of years ago it has to stay like that permanently.’

Neo-liberals are a joke; wouldn't take them seriously and ignore them. Neo-liberalism has gone more extremist-oriented than its predecessor; Classical-Liberalism which has more libertarian affinities. Its a joke that politics mixed in academics now which is regressing many fields. Nevertheless, I wouldn't take them seriously since they are merely foreign opportunists taking advantage of the native British taxpayers money when they should be deported from whence they came.

I think these workshops have the opposite effect. First of all, no one likes to be lectured and vilified. Secondly, people rebel when they're told they have to think a particular way. So this will have the unintended consequence of having the opposite effect than intended.

In the United Kingdom, particularly in England, "Enoch [Powell] was right" is a phrase of political rhetoric, inviting comparison of aspects of current English society with the predictions made by Powell in the "Rivers of Blood" speech. The phrase implies criticism of racial quotas, immigration and multiculturalism. Badges, T-shirts and other items bearing the slogan have been produced at different times in the United Kingdom. Powell gained support from both right-wing and traditionally left-leaning, working-class voters for his anti-immigration stance.

Remind me how many seminars, since few years, in France, are «  not white peoples allowed « , «  only colored peoples » and «  for non-whites peoples ».
I was chocked to be discriminate in my own country, by peoples who cried themselves about discrimination.
The problem is in Europe maybe African Immigrants want to this land comin like USA and they cannot understand that, unlike USA, Africans are not here since long time.
