Re: Old Film Trailers (to 2009)
The Outsiders was one of the books that was part of the reading list for my high school freshman English class.
I remember reading that one, Lord of the Flies and Beowulf.
We had a cool English teacher, he really tried to engaged his students.
Two more great sci-if flicks.
Porkys is raunchy.

Re: Old Film Trailers (to 2009)
The musical score on Fantastic Voyage is typical of films of that era and the trailer reminded me of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Probably the most famous sci-fi film of them all:
I think I've heard the title Escape from New York but that's all. I noticed Lee Van Cleef is in it who was famous for starring in the Spaghetti Westerns:

Re: Old Film Trailers (to 2009)
I use to watch western movies with my dad, he was a fan of that genre.
Clint Eastwood will always be the perfect cowboy, and a great leading man!
I enjoyed the recently released Star Wars movies too. Kinda geeky, but I like how they wove the story together.
The original film will always be a classic .
Another Eastwood film. A little older but, he is still one cool dude!
And then this next one. It is coming of age film, a little dark but it has a great sound track Kirsten Dunst is in it too.

That's two more films to add to my already long 'too see' list. The second one reminded me of two films:

Re: Old Film Trailers (to 2009)
John Wayne and Maureen Ohara had great on screen chemistry. I like this old comedy/western.
I don't know who is the better cowboy John or Clint?
I never saw Heathers or Dead Poets Society. Robin Williams Films are usually all good.

Stefanie Powers . . . "And when they met, it was murder!" Speaking of murder (again):

Re: Old Film Trailers (to 2009)
I would say that my favorite Jack Nicholson film would be , One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest.
It is a very emotional movie, filled with both laughter and tears.
I rewatched it not too long ago.
Jack is such a likable bad boy
Such creepy background music!
Now that the days are growing shorter and the nights longer....spooky movies come to mind. The Halloween decor and candy is now the first thing that you see when you walk into a store! Summer is almost over.
Sleepy Hollow is not too far from where I live. The town and surrounding really do have the feel of something supernatural.
I like Tim Burton's gothic style.
Johnny Depp reminds me a little bit of Jack Nicholson.

Re: Old Film Trailers (to 2009)
There's a Metallica song inspired by One flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest which I'll post in 'Now Listening To'. Sleepy Hollow I have seen. It's good - lot's of atmosphere. I'll now post a trailer which combines Tim Burton and Jack Nicholson
And the follow up. No JN in this one but Michelle Pfeiffer is good:

^ I think that Tim Burton did an excellent job of recreating the story of Batman, much better than the later Dark Knight movies. He picked a great cast to play the characters.
Michael Keaton was an odd choice for the role but he portrayed the part perfectly and who could ever forget Michelle Pheiffer's scene I am Cat-woman....MEOW!
I like this old movie with John Travolta and Kyra Sedgwick

Now, I can not stop thinking about that seagull, and how she swooped down on the women taking her ice cream flake.
If you ask me , that is very aggressive avian behavior, fearless.
Bird can be really menacing, especially when there are a lot of them, they are flying low and making those crazy bird sounds!
And one more classic, from the master of suspense ....the great Alfred Hitchcock

I can repeat the trick of combining two themes - birds and Michelle Pfeiffer:
And another film starring Mathew Broderick (also Ally Sheedy who was in The Breakfast Club):

I saw this movie twice before, but forgot a lot of it. I would not mind watching it again. Great , scenery acting, action, romance...and Indians!

Re: Old Film Trailers (to 2009)
Madeleine Stowe was in Twelve Monkeys directed by Terry Gilliam. I don't remember the plot. I'll have to watch it again sometime.
Gilliam's first solo film, Jabberwocky:
He says: "Well, I really want to encourage a kind of fantasy, a kind of magic. I love the term magic realism, whoever invented it – I do actually like it because it says certain things. It's about expanding how you see the world. I think we live in an age where we're just hammered, hammered to think this is what the world is. Television's saying, everything's saying 'That's the world.' And it's not the world. The world is a million possible things." (Wikipedia)

A guilty pleasure of mine as a child. I loved the metal god bonehead who only said:
Destroy! Destroy Superman! AAAARRRG

Re: Old Film Trailers (to 2009)
I liked this movie a lot, it has such breathtaking scenery!
And, I can understand what Liam Neeson is saying for the most part. His accent is toned down.
Another romance....sigh
Do you think that Jessica Lange accent sounds authentic?
Jabberwocky looks very funny, Monty Python like.
I only saw the first Superman, with Christopher Reeve. It is a good one.
